  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 (32-ounce) carton chicken broth (see page 200), or as needed
