  • 4 or 5 dried red chiles, stemmed
  • ¾ cup (90 grams) grated fresh coconut (or frozen unsweetened coconut)
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 6 to 8 whole black peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind pulp
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 2 green chiles, stemmed and slit
