  • 1 cup grated and packed Gruyre Parmesan, or aged provolone cheese
  • 2 cups whole milk plus cup to pour in later
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • A dash of nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
