  • 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cups frozen cheese tortellini, or 8 ounces other pasta (see Notes)
  • 3 tablespoons shredded or grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
